Maxi Dresses are all the rage come Summer. When I lived in Miami, they were de rigueur nearly year round. The floaty, breathable fabric says yes to humidity and hot weather. Also, the no-wrinkle fabric makes for fuss-free packing. I would enjoy wearing this dress on a Summer Cruise, a casual afternoon at the beach, or even dinner on the sands. The colorful print is great for all body shapes, sizes and ages. The sleeves make it comfortable for those not wanting to bare a lot of arm, while the lower neckline allows space for displaying jewelry.

One of my modern Fashion Icons is Nicole Richie. The way she mixes prints, maxi dresses and color can almost seem like a work of art. She manages to look on trend, while keeping the comfort level relatively high. Lauren Conrad, another modern day muse, lives in maxi dresses. Being a California girl at heart, it's one of her go-to, favorite pieces and Lauren does seem to own a wide variety. Being 5'6" myself, a maxi dress allows me to feel even taller and offers me the chance to wear my tallest of heels. A definite must with maxis: you need height! Which can be easily accomplished in the form of heels or wedges. This allows the dress to keep its long line intact and protects its hem from dragging along the ground. Because the print is so wildly delicious, one wouldn't want to add distraction that could possibly take away from the design. So, when it comes to choosing your accessories, try neutral based tones. Or, if you're feeling a bit bold, pick out one color from the print and expand on it. I chose the turquoise and mixed in the necklace. I wore my beige Chanel bag to add luxe, but not distract from the gorgeous printed dress.

I finally got the new baby of the family to settle down. Max, the little black kitten, is fitting in nicely with Scout and Sweety. I had to work yesterday, for most of the afternoon. Then I visited my parents' place to play with Max. My Mom helped me wrangle him up for some photos. Then Max and I snuggled up to watch That 70's Show.

How was your weekend?

As a special Readers Request, I've compiled my Top 25 iTunes Summer Playlist. Some of you may already follow my "Now Playing" tweets on Twitter. Many of the songs I listen to play a large role in what I wear on the blog. Music is a huge inspiration to me, and I work better with it. I'm also guilty of using the "Repeat ON" function. Sometimes a certain song gets me in just the right zone and state of mind. I rarely use the Shuffle mode.. unless I'm working out.

I want to know what is in YOUR summer music mix? Please share!! :)

Jessica Simpson Dany 70's Platforms

Jessica Simpson Dany Platforms, Sandals, Shoes, Fashion

I thought I would share a quick glimpse of the shoes I wore today. Out of all 3 colors I own, this tan pair is my favorite. I'm taken with all things Seventies: from bell bottom jeans to platform wooden heels. Makes me want to put on an old Anita Ward record and dance the night away...

When I think about blogging I can't help but to appreciate how much my life has been enriched by it. It's almost as if I took a walk in unknown territory only to stumble into a hidden little corner. A spot where fashion enthusiasts from all over the World gather for a sweet rendezvous. A land where I can freely ask frivolous questions, without receiving a bewildered expression, such as Do those shoes fit true to size? What color is your nail polish? or Where can I find that highly anticipated h&m dress before it sells out?

The support I get from all of you, my readers, are truly the building blocks of this blog and is tremendously overwhelming, in a good way of course. I love you, I love you.

Cracked Silver

Took these in the park about a week or so ago. Was interrupted mid-shoot by a Park Ranger (in his twenties) who told us we needed a Permit to take pictures in the park? And that what I was wearing was inappropriate? As Cher Horowitz would say, "As If!" Found out later we don't even need a Permit. Who does that?

Lately I've been:
Trying out new recipes. Last night I made Angel hair, lemon shrimp, tomato basil pasta. I've invented a new garlic bread (extra olive oil) and tried out chewy gingersnap cookies, with molasses. I'm also catching up on my reading. I just finished Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. My attention was held captive the entire time by the narration given through the main character's thinking process rather than actually speaking out loud. Now, I'm delving into a sea of Judy Blume. Ah the nostalgia!

Down the Rabbit Hole

When I first started researching around for my Chanel alike clogs by Campbell, I came across the Jessica Simspon Dany platform. I fell in love at 3rd glance being reminded of Charles Anastase RTW Spring 2009. Of course, by the time I caved and decided to purchase, all were sold out in my size in black and beige. I called stores and finally found out that that the Macy's in New York had some in beige. Thanks to Karen, who paid a visit, they came in the mail yesterday. We decided to blog about them on the same day, worn different ways. We seem to have the same taste in shoes... we could very well be sole sisters.

I feel like the Queen of Hearts.

Target sweater (under), Vintage Irish Wool sweater coat, Gap Blueberry V-Neck, Cheap Monday skinny Jeans, Topshop heart socks, Jessica Simpson Dany platforms.
