Suddenly Summer

Thanks to the folks over at Motel for dress numero dos. I decided to play it classic with simple accents in black since the print on the dress is enough of a statement on its own. I've been wearing my new Jee Vice sunglasses day in and day out. The square faced shape has me gaga. And thanks to Jenna over at The Supermelon for introducing me to Purple Lab lip gloss by Karen Robinovitz. I went with "Red Sole" but of course. Goes on smoothly, isn't sticky, absolutely delicious and looks so pretty. ;)

Fun Fact:
The song you are listening to is Beyond the Sea by Bobby Darin, one of my favorite crooners! This is the song my husband and I walked into the Reception, after the Wedding with. ♥

From Dusk 'Til Dawn

Anja Rubik in Allure magazine December 2006. Photographed by Patrick DeMarchelier.

I wanted to share this particular editorial with everyone because it encompasses fluidity, elegance and femininity. I like the champagne, diamonds and bubbles attitude Anja has going on while she sprawls across the room in stilettos and gauzy dresses. It also reminds me to enjoy life, every happy moment is a memory that lasts a lifetime.......

Michael Jackson, Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough is one of my all-time favorite songs of yours, along with Thriller. RIP. You are my Angel in the airwaves, now and forever......

Cameron, of Stardust and Sequins contacted me to contribute my Michael Jackson playlist of favorites. You can see it here.

The Best Kind of Connection

A small act of kindness is almost an oxymoron because any act of kindness, no matter how small, can play a large role in uplifting just about any soul. A smile can turn an entire person's attitude around. We're here to help each other. Below is a beautiful quote I found stating exactly what I am feeling at this very moment....

We all have such love and kindness to share. Just open your heart and let it flow.

Show everyone just how much you care, with a simple smile and a friendly hello.

Small things in life could mean so such, to those who are lost and so alone.

Someone's life you truly could touch, with a little kindness that you could show.

For it does not take much to make one smile. To brighten up ones darkened day.

Whether it be the elderly or even a small child. A simple act of kindness does go such a long way..

- Trixie Love

Features

You can read it in Italian here.

1. In your opinion what is style?
Style is about creating an idea, making it your own and then, wearing it with confidence.

2. Which are the items that are always in your bag and that you don’t go out without?
Cell phone, spearmint-flavored gum, Chanel glossimer in pailletes, an oversize pair of sun-shielding (sun)glasses, and my part-wallet/part-clutch from Spain.....

3. Which are your favorite designers?
Hubert de Givenchy; what he did for Audrey Hepburn was simply amazing, iconic in fact. Diane von Furstenberg; for believing in women and knowing just the right elements necessary to complement and flatter a woman's figure. Alexander Wang; for knowing what the young, and trendsetting want; something both cool and fashion-forward but just as comfortable to wear. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen; for creating Elizabeth and James as well as The Row, both lines emanating from class, couture and creativity. Yves Saint Laurent; always proper and innovative. Many look to him for inspiration, guidance and direction. When I think YSL, I think classic and I think chic. There are so many more I could name...

4. Which are your favorite models?
Natalia Vodianova, fresh-faced, baby-doll cuteness. She's great in front of the camera and can encompass any look with ease. Behati Prinsloo, Ali Stephens, Natasha Poly and Lily Donaldson; for their model-Off-duty on point style. Jen Brill, Tallulah Morton, Taylor Warren .. oh-so many.. :)

5. Your perfect outfit for the morning.
Since it’s Summer here now I tend to opt for: casual, a little bit oversized tees, fitted denim pants or cuffed shorts and Grecian sandals…

6. Your perfect outfit for the night.
Dark denim, flowy, blousy tops, lots of bangles and shy-high heels or sandals. A cute clutch is always a must.

7. In your opinion, which is the summer 09 trend?
FLORALS, FLORALS, FLORALS! :) and…. Acid wash denim, baggy rolled shorts, platforms with mini dresses and I’m hoping the 70’s makes a comeback!

8. Who/ What inspires/inspired your style?
Everything; from a beautiful flower, to a Sunny afternoon, or a really great song; Old Hollywood movies play a large role. Even books I read. Fashion is in everything, if you just look for it..

9. If you had a basic black dress, how would you make it original and stylish?
Scarves can go a long way. And I’m a firm believer that the right shoes can change just about any look.

10. Do you customize your clothes? If yes, how do you do it?
I love to find vintage pieces that are a few sizes too big on me, which I then alter by either shortening the hem (if it’s a dress or skirt) and cinching in the waist with a belt or scarf, thus making it new again.

11. How do you choose the soundtrack for you blog?
Whatever happens to be playing on my iTunes mix at the moment or a song I really loved and had to download off of iTunes for my iPod mix. Movies, TV and friends influence me music wise as well. I’m not big on mainstream radio….

12. Which are the items in your wish list now?
Zebra prints on bags, Jimmy Choo has the cutest denim-blue and white one. Christopher Kane gorilla-inspired tops. I always change on my ideas of wish list items, but one thing always remains; pretty things that catch my eye.

13. Heels or flats?
Right now, heels. Used to be flats though.. Also do ankle boots count?

14. Is there an item in your wardrobe that you are embarrassed about?
My Hollister-logo shirts. Use them for the beach now as cover-ups… and my terry cloth and velour matching suits, of course I only wear them inside, when cold or as cover-ups poolside…

15. The most loved item you have in your wardrobe.
My Sam Edelman ankle booties. THANK YOU, NICOLE!! xoxo

16. Why did you start writing on your blog?
Because I wanted a place to share my own fashion ideas and outfits. I never found a place as perfect as having my own blog. I was mainly influenced by Rumi and the fashion spot forum members to start my own.

Chicisimo has revamped their look, logo and website and has even included a Bridal Style section. You can check my features out here and here.

Charlie's Angel

Lately I've been craving 3 things. 70's making a big splash of a comeback in Summer fashion. Reading Harriet the Spy (and finding the film on DVD) .... I used to keep a spy notebook myself when I was young. I also learned about tomato sandwiches from Harriet. How cool is it that Michelle Trachtenberg was Harriet the Spy and is now Georgina Sparks on Gossip girl? And lastly, I'm really excited about the special Father's day barbecue planned for this weekend.

Nike Run

A glimpse into a casual me, if you will. I tend to wear sneakers when I just want to hang out on the weekend, especially when running errands or working out. Here, I'm excited to be wearing my new Elizabeth and James deconstructed tee. Thank you, Krystal for informing me of my Contest win. For those of you asking me what I do to keep fit? Easy: I love to play tennis, run/jog, take long, brisk walks with Sweety after dinner, and drinking lots and lots (and lots) of water. I owe Stompface for getting me hooked on Passion Pit, which is what you are listening to now. I'm also really into Rihanna at the moment. I definitely recommend Selfish Girl and Good Girl Gone Bad. By the way, I'm on episode 3 of Tudors, Season 1 now. And let me just say, I cannot stop drooling over Jon Rhys as King Henry VIII. Ahhh! About my 500th blog post: ALL OF YOUR COMMENTS AMAZE ME, ALWAYS!

500th Post!!

I made it to the holy blog threshold of the 500th post! Thanks to Wanderlusting and her convenient reminder on her own recent post about the exact same topic. You know who I applaud though? Not me. All of you. Every single one of my readers (all of you!) are the true inspiration behind Fashion Chalet; my sparkle. I love you!

I thought in honor of all this, I'd give you a little more insight into who I am with: random facts, past favorite blog posts and some of my favorites in general..... I hope you enjoy.

Some of the blog posts I most took pleasure from over this last year are this Fashion Week collage, and when I wore my Marc Jacobs trench for the very first time (blog-wise), the text I wrote in this post. A reader request - for those of you who have been asking for some more images of Sweety; here, here and here. Lately I can't get enough of Iced lattes (thank you, Starbucks!) The bright neon nailpolish collection by Essie. Can you guess which color I picked? Bodysuits (especicially by Motel and Urban Outfitters) I'd love to own a plethora. Oversize sunglasses, multicolored cardigans รก la Rodarte and Missoni print pullovers. Wanting to get my hands on the perfect shimmery one-piece bathing suit for Summer. As far as cuisine goes; I love my bi-weekly lunch salads. All of the Odwalla protein shakes, fill me up, cool me off and of course, offer a grand dose of protein and energy. My favorite meal of the day has to be dinner, my famous shrimp fettucine or slow-cooked chicken with veggies and Italian cheese. Sweet potatoes and beets are the perfect side dish to just about every meal, luckily they're both easy to prepare and everybody's favorite. And in general, I really love Bruno Dayan's photography, this and him right now.

Motel ROCKS!

Remember my mentioning an exciting surprise? Check out my new floral printed bodysuit courtesy of Motel!!!!! I also love my new BDG acid wash ankle cigarette jeans from Urban Outfitters, as seen on Lauren Conrad and evoke visions of a late 80's Kelly Kapowski at Bayside High from Saved by The Bell.

As far as television goes, I’m re-addicted to The Office, started up Season 4 yesterday. Michael Scott, if you are reading this, thank you for making me REALLY laugh out loud again, only you can make my lunchtime break this fun! I’m also starting Tudors, I’ve only seen one episode so far …. Tried to pick up True Blood and Lost but both were sold out… oh well, something to look forward to...

Urban Outfitters featuring Fashion Chalet

You can only imagine my excitement and surprise when a facebook friend (thanks, Shireen) pointed this feature out to me today. I love Urban Outfitters. I spend many afternoons wandering in their Sunset Place, Miami store just looking for the perfect pieces to mix into my wardrobe. I also admit to browsing through their website as often as I check bloglovin or drink coffee. Thank you Urban Outfitters and Weardrobe for this wonderful feature and opportunity.

Sartorial Sunday

A rainy Sunday calls for a collage, no? Thought I'd throw a little of my current favorites into the mix. And an all time classic hit by Simple Minds for the tune. (This one's for you, Max!)

Mary-Kate Olsen for her hair, glitzy top and ripped tights. A model on break backstage in ballet flats. Pixie Market perfection, I love the model's layered hair and cut-out leggings paired with ankle boots. Natasha Poly in red lipstick; enough said!

As the rest of this week is supposed to rain (on and off- boo hoo!) I will at least have lots of new TV to watch, thanks to all of your great recommendations, guys!! :)

Now with Gossip girl and 90210 officially over, I don't know what to watch? Recommendations please? I'm already thinking about tackling the rest of Lost (I'm mid-season 4) and Heroes (mid-season 1) I really want something new though. I've heard really good things about Tudors. Anything else?

Officially Friday. Have fun tonight!

Jetset

I thought it perfect to pair this set of photographs with one of my ultimate favorite songs Viva la Vida by Coldplay (I'm betting it has a lot do with the fact that this song was used in the opening sequence of the pilot episode on the new 90210.)

Thank you so much for your comments, I am trying my best to catch up with all of them. In the meantime I answered a few things in regards to the last "Chinese Laundry" post within the comments box, *check towards the bottom. If I didn't respond with a reply last time, I'll try to catch you this time. ;)

Over the weekend, I decided I want to buy a new camera (Canon vs Nikon?) and slowly add more bodysuits to my wardrobe. The first of many is being shipped my way really soon according to an exciting email. I hope it's true! Can't wait.

Just found out- I've been added as a Bloglovin' Icon Artist here. Thank you, Team-Bloglovin!
