Halloween

{Guess denim vest, Vintage Bongo skirt, Abercrombie and Fitch button-up}

Heath bars are really, really good.

Apple Fritters recipe here.

{Jeffrey Campbell Charli clogs}

I didn't dress up this year after all. You can see my costumes from 2009 as Audrey Hepburn here and from 2008 as a Bohemian Princess here. This year I stayed in and gave out candy to the neighboring kids. So many adorable costumes. What did you do this Halloween?

Scarf Check

{Dior sunglasses, Newport News top, Superfine denim, Pierre Hardy x Gap wedges, Forever 21 fur vest + scarf, Nightingale bag}

While everyone else is busy scrambling to watch just about every Scary movie in time for Halloween, I'm opting for comedies. I'm not much for paranormal activity or slasher films. And I'm still not sure if I should even dress up?

I'd better start planning my design for the annual Pumpkin carving... any suggestions? :)

Nirvana

{Chaser Nirvana raglan, Rave jacket, Seven for all Mankind jeans, Pierre Hardy x Gap wedges, Foley + Corinna bag}

I remember when initially moving to North Carolina last October, the weather left an impact on this girl hailing from Miami. One year later and I am easily adjusting to and loving the varying Seasons.

Last October, I also watched My So Called Life in full. I've decided to make it my personal fall tradition as I have started watching it all over again. How is it that every time, I spot something new? Angela Chase dives and dips into plaid and flannel with such ease. Pieces that look as soft as pajamas and mimic Pendleton in design are her high school uniform. She listens to Stone Temple Pilots, The Cranberries and Smashing Pumpkins as much as I did then ...and still do now...

The Nineties, preserved in a tidy little capsule of 19 episodes.

The Great Pumpkin

{Fiorentini + Baker boots, Foley + Corinna bag}

How was your weekend? I took a much needed break from the internet. It seems to have paid off. Saturday was spent enjoying the beautiful weather in the park with a Chik-fil-A picnic, picking pumpkins, deer watching and an impromptu sighting of Lauren Conrad. The pumpkin impressive, the food mouth watering and Lauren as perfectly polished and pretty as pictures convey.

The leggings are by So Low.

PS: Congrats to Hannah, the winner of the Faux Fox Tail keychain. Thanks to everyone who participated.

Vintage Rain Dance

{Luphia pink leather jacket, James Jeans Twiggy Karma, Threadsence tank dress, Plueys rain boots}

One of the projects I've been working on this month is for Plueys rain boots. Being originally from Miami, I know all too well how important a pair of rain boots are to a girl's wardrobe. Function meets style with this cute pair.

How do you wear your rain boots?

Flowers for Algernon

{Guess denim vest, Vintage romper and bag, Hypnotic heels}

Dior Extreme + Carrie Bradshaw

Inspired by both literature and Carrie Bradshaw, my look was born. Fashion is about comfort and taking risks with the mix. It's really a very fun process to rummage through your closet, finding pieces you've completely forgotten about. Before Fall officially begins and the last of the leaves fall, a floral printed romper and denim vest it is!

I Just Realized...

Haven't done one of these in a while....

Most people don't know this about me: I love making up my own songs. I also play the drums!
My favorite music: Techno-house with lots of drum and bass. Indie Rock is also a favorite.
Random: I hate alcohol and never really drink much past a sip of Champagne.
I collect: MP3's from iTunes and am always up for discovering something new.
Favorite song right now: Fans Kings of Leon
Favorite quote: Everything happens for a reason.
If you could trade places with anyone it would be: Marissa Cooper on The OC, Season 1.
90210 or Gossip girl?: 90210 for the characters and story lines, Gossip girl for the decadence.
The happiest moment in life: Was spending a week in Disney World!
It's Cheesy, but I like: Hallmark channel movies.
The one food I could eat forever is: Pasta.
My secret celebrity crush is: on Robert Pattinson.
I'm addicted to: Top Chef Just Desserts.
My favorite actress is: Amanda Seyfried.
If I were an animal, I'd be: a Horse!
The one thing I spend too much money on: Shoes!
I wish I could Splurge on: Burberry Shearling-lined aviator boots.
I'm disappointed about: Networks canceling great TV. Lone Star had potential as did The Beautiful Life. Why?

Happy Friday and weekend!!

Something In Common

{Ports 1961 Vest, Urban Revisions Top, H&M leggings, Aldo mirrored heels, Vintage Watch}

I recently made a collage and wrote a little blurb on my current Fall Favorite pieces for Barely Vogue. You can see my Feature here. Thanks for having me, Sahi.

It's not even Halloween yet and all I want to do is listen to Christmas music, wrap myself up in plush coats and drink tea by the fireplace with a good book every night. Except, these last few days have been in the 80's.. aw.

What are you most excited about this Fall? What do you REALLY want to wear??

Fall is My Favorite

The question I am most often asked as a fashion blogger is... Is blogging hard work? The hardest part for me would have to be figuring out what to write for every individual post. When I hit a roadblock, sometimes it's easiest to walk away for a minute and then come back to it.

Since Prime time Television is back in full force, I thought I would talk about some shows from yesteryear I kinda miss.

Saved by the Bell - Zack Morris and Kelly Kapowski, enough said!
Freaks and Geeks - Hilarity made out of the simplest situations. Halloween has to be my favorite.
My So Called Life - Rayanne Graff and Erin Wasson would have been the best of buds. What with the nose piercing, tie-dye garb and mini braids. Angela Chase channeled the 90's girl who danced in her room to Silverchair and Nirvana in pajamas pretending to serenade Kurt Cobain and Billy Corgan. I still relate to every character and story-line in that show.
Clarissa Explains It All - Best friends climbing in and out of each others rooms via a ladder pre-Dawson's Creek and packed with semi teen angst.
Are You Afraid of the Dark? Cheesy, yes. But still good...
Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction - A miniseries of short stories in which you had to decide if they were fact or fiction. At the end of the program the Host would reveal which were indeed true and which ones were completely farce.
Blossom - M.C. Hammer harem pants exploding with floral prints, enormous hats and clever comedy.

The last time I wore this Trench I actually combined it with these very same jeans seen here.

10.10.10. Dior SS 2011 / & Brashy Couture Winners!

Christian Dior for Spring 2011, can easily be depicted as cheeky fun. John Galliano bottled Betty Boop, Hawaiian prints and Sailor accents with ease. It's the kind of clothing that can both flatter a woman and let her live out a South Pacific -like fantasy.

Picture it: grass skirts, Tiki torches and grosgrain ribbon melding with a romantic serenade and a Pineapple smoothie set seaside.

Congrats to the Winners of the Brashy Couture T Contest! Oui Oui Paris goes to Closet Fashionista and Le Jeune Art to Natassia Lea. I hope to run another giveaway soon!! Thanks to all who participated.

Fashion's Night Out + Times Square

{Bebe leather jacket, Forever 21 top and necklace, Loft cuff, Sold Design Lab skinny jeans, Old Navy ballet flats}

The top is really a miniskirt I turned into a floaty, cropped bandeau.

Fashion's Night Out started in Soho and ended in Times Square. After a while, I just couldn't take the crowded streets in super-high heels any longer. Eventually made it Midtown for ballet flats, dinner and The Nanny.

My favorite part about Times Square? Despite the exhaustive crowd, and feeling part of an ant colony, the anonymity is amazing.

Headed to 8th Avenue

Some of you may remember this look from my peek into the Ports 1961 Showroom in September here. These were taken just after that and right before meeting a friend for dinner at Rocking Horse Cafe in Chelsea.. for some authentic Mexican cuisine.

{Loft button up, James Jeans Twiggy Karma, Senso boots courtesy of Solestruck, Michele watch, Nightingale bag}

I'm impressed with all of the entries so far for the Brashy Couture tees. Looks like Oui Oui Paris is in the lead. You still have time to enter, the last day is October 9th.
