Glamour Shots, 13 Years

Glamour shots, fashion, modeling, makeup, hairstyle, beauty

This was taken as a gift for my 13th Birthday. A special shout out to my Aunt Betty who treated me to the first taste of fashion and photography. I can't believe I was only 13. Dolled up in makeup and big hair, I felt (and looked) so much older. No wonder today's models storming the Fashion catwalks look older than their actual age. Sometimes you'd never even know some are merely 17..

What's in my Travel Makeup Bag?

Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm
Batiste Dry Hair Shampoo

I always travel light when it comes to makeup. On my recent trip to New York, I consolidated the main products I use into one small makeup case. What I realized is that I don't use or need very much. I do make sure to have powdered foundation on hand, to even out skin tone. Eyeliner: liquid or the smudgy stick kind. A variety of lipsticks (preferably in bright pinks or reds). And, a small can of dry hair shampoo can come in mighty handy.

How does your makeup travel? Anything you can't leave town without?

" MAKEUP " Red Lipstick + Liquid Eyeliner

MAC Ruby Woo Red Lipstick, Nars Liquid Eyeliner
MAC Ruby Woo Red Lipstick
Trish McAvoy Lash-Enhancing Liquid Eyeliner

After yesterday's post, I received quite a number of emails inquiring about my lipstick color. When I was in high school (even College!) I would have never had the guts to play up my lips or eyes in such an impactive way. Now, thanks to blogging and experimenting with new makeup choices and colors, I completely embrace this "new look" for myself. I also can't wait for Spring to play with new, bright and punchy colors. Now, if only neon fashion and makeup could meet. Wouldn't that make quite the statement for Spring? ;)

By the Way, thanks for the Interview StyleSays.

P.S. Don't forget to win the ESTELLE DÉVÉ Silver Ring Set Like Mine HERE. Ends 3/1!

Daily Makeup Routine

Covergirl, Maybelline, Makeup Beauty
Covergirl, Maybelline, Elf, and Rimmel- My Daily "Go-To's"

I have been receiving quite a number of emails regarding my daily makeup regimen lately. In all honesty, it only takes me 10 minutes to "put my face on" so to speak. I start with a pressed powder foundation (Maybelline is my go-to!) and apply a few drops of water to my sponge to create a smooth application. Once dry, I pat on some blush with a big faced brush. I line my eyes with Rimmel eyeliner (I tend to smudge it around the corners when finished with a Q-Tip.) For a night out or a special event, I'll line my upper lids with a liquid liner cat eye Circa 1961 and mascara.

Maybelline, Covergirl, Lime Crime, Lipstick, Beauty makeup

When it comes to Lipstick, truth be told, just a few years ago I never would have stepped outside in super bright lipstick. Why you ask? Because I shied away from the attention and it felt like a spotlight on my face. I would wonder, "Was I too made up? Did I look like a clown?" I wasn't comfortable with the added attention it might bring my way. Instead, I would only wear lightly tinted glosses or nude lipsticks.

Now? Well, now I certainly embrace the idea of colorful lipstick. I feel more confident in it. It makes me happy to catch a reflection of my colorful lips. I feel alive and confident. It reminds me (and also makes me question) why I was so afraid to break out of my shell before? In high school, I was so different from who I have become now. I am much more comfortable in my skin now then I was back then. I think that's a part of most every teenage girl's territory though, growing up and feeling awkward or shy? Now, I can't get my hands on enough richly hued makeup. It's a great way to experiment and have fun. Makeup is just as much of an accessory as the latest "it" handbag or stylish new shoes. And much more affordable too. I say dig in and play!

Lipstick Wars: Revlon vs Cover Girl

Cover Girl's Lip Perfection Lipstick in Fairy Tale, Revlon Lipstick in Siren, Neon nail polish

Cover Girl in Fairy Tale and Revlon in Siren

I found the most perfect color a few months ago. Cover Girl's Lip Perfection Lipstick in Fairy Tale (a really flattering peachy-pink) and it stays on for hours without ever drying your lips. Just last week I went on a hunt for Orange lipstick. Finally found it by way of Revlon in Siren. Just as moisturizing and this particular shade of orange reminds me of Fendi S/S 11. Win, win!!

Covergirl Fairytale

Cover Girl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Fairy Tale

I detest going to to grocery store unless it's in preparation for a party or a fun meal I can't wait to make. Otherwise, it's simply a chore. I tend to treat myself at the market... to fruit, to celebrity gossip filled tabloids or.... cosmetics! This is my latest find. Cover Girl Lip Perfection Lipstick in a slightly peachy pink shade. Aptly titled Fairy Tale. For just under $7 you can treat your lips to a flattering blast of color this summer, one that moisturizes too. I just had to share... Happy Easter!

Hot Pink Lipstick

Nars, Beauty, Lipstick, Makeup, Hot Pink Lipstick

This weekend I ventured off the nude lip for a bit and plunged into hot pink. I want to start experimenting with more and more lip colors. From fire engine red to almost orange. Suggestions? Favorites?

NYFW Makeup

Chanel makeup

When packing for any trip, or photo shoot, makeup is always crucial. As far as my personal picks go, I'm pretty easy. I only require pressed powder, subtle bronzer, creamy blush, eyeliner and nude lipstick or gloss. I only wear mascara and/or eyeshadow at night. My personal favorites are Chanel and Dior. And if I'm in an absolute hurry, the darkest eyeliner possible, preferably smudged, face powder and lip gloss are all I really need.

Reflections

As a blogger, I am most often asked a lot of different questions. Usually about my hair. What products do I use? How do I care for it? I'm also asked about the kind of makeup I wear on an everyday basis. So, I thought I would dedicate this post to all of my special readers and answer a few questions.

Hair Care: I am loyal to Pantene Pro-V for the shine and bounce infused into my tresses with every single rinse. John Freida tames any Frizz that Summer humidity may bring along with it. I have yet to deal with a tangle that Garnier Fructis conditioner could not restore and revitalize. Hana Shine Shield Thermal Protectant helps lock in moisture and strengthen hair (used best before) applying the stress of heat styling. I finish it all off with my Hana Professional Flat Iron 1" Pink Edition.

*Bonus: For stronger hair and lasting shine: Consume plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and drink at least 5 glasses of water a day.

Image Sources: Google, and linked sites.

Everyday Makeup: Cover Girl foundation in Natural Beige, I prefer it in powder compact form. Black or brown eyeliner, swapping between Stila Kajal in Onyx and Soft Kohl in Sable Brown by Rimmel. I favor nude lipsticks and glosses such as the glossimers by Chanel. However, when I want to vamp things up, red is it. Royal Red by Maybelline (worn HERE) is my choice favorite followed by Hot Pink Schiap by Nars running a close second. I want to try Red Lizard by Nars next.

See more of this Outfit here.

Body: I was able to pamper my skin recently, courtesy of Aveeno and Lucky magazine. At first go, I slathered my legs and toes. Less than an hour later, this 24-Hour Ultra-Hydrating Whipped Souffle by Aveeno made me feel as if I had just left the spa, invigorating scent and all. The best part? It's packed with antioxidant-rich vitamins, soothing Shea and Cocoa butters plus nourishing Oatmeal.

Extras: Essie, American Apparel and OPI decorate my nails as of late. In rotation: Poppy, Van D'Go and Vodka & Caviar.

My Everyday Makeup ...

A girl should always be loyal to her best friends, her boyfriend and her makeup. Here is just some of what I turn to on a daily basis.

  • Chanel glossimer in Pailletes
  • Stýli-Style eyeliner in Black
  • Revlon blush in Toast of New York
  • New York Color nail polish in Polyester Creme
  • Maybelline Powder foundation in Natural Beige #50

And a special "hi" to the two blond girls who stopped to introduce themselves as readers of my Blog in Starbucks this morning.

Now you know how I like to take my coffee, with extra cinnamon. ;)

Beauty Essentials! + The Supemelon

Check out the Feature here.
  • Powder foundation - I like loose and subtle. Something to help even my skin tone; yet airy and light. I usually opt for Cover Girl in Natural Beige or Chanel’s Creme Beige.

  • Blush - Maybelline’s Toast of New York adds just the right touch of subtle color without going overboard. I use this shade almost everyday, for night I like to go for Chanel’s Glamour, which is a little richer in color.
  • Lipgloss - Chanel’s Sirop is my favorite shade, reminds me of the kind of color I always imagined applying onto my Barbie as a little girl…
  • Nails - New York Color and OPI, usually. But I’m not a snob when it comes to labels, I like any brand as long as the color fits my style du jour. Right now I have on a party poppin’ pink colour (that I mixed out of 3 different shades) on my toes from OPI and usually go back and forth between my OPI’s Boris & Natasha (deep purple) and Vodka & Caviar (elegant rich red). I can never go long without having my toes painted either; that’s key!!
  • Eyeliner - The darker the better. I adore the slanted eye pencils by Styli-Style best.
  • Bronzer - My two staples are Chanel’s Toundra and Revlon’s Skinlights Face Illuminator.
  • Perfume - Daisy by Marc Jacobs, Original Juicy Couture and The One by Dolce & Gabbana are my rotating favorites… for now.
  • Face Wash - Neutrogena Deep Clean Cream Cleanser is perfect in the shower, when you really want to strip away any extra oil or dead skin. After I get out, I like to re-cleanse with Original Noxema Deep Cleansing Cream; and just before bed as well.

Details on Outfits here and here.
