Braids and the Bloglovin' Awards

Fashion editorial, inspiration, Braids

I found this Fashion editorial for Cover February 2012 so striking. Particularly this image. I had to photoshop the background, to make the model and her wicked hairstyle, the primary focus. Now, if only I could figure out how to "DIY" this hairstyle myself. Any ideas?? Props to Hairstylist: Mette Thorsgaard.

Well, I'm off. See you at the Bloglovin' Awards! :)

Bring Bangs Back?

Fashion Chalet, Erika, Hairstyle bangs,

When I was a little girl, I had bangs. I didn't even think about growing them out until the middle of Junior High. Now, I'm toying with the idea of bringing bangs back. I'm kind of scared for the change. So maybe I can play with attachable bangs first? If there is such a thing? Do you like the idea of me in bangs?

P.S. Hurricane Irene is bringing us lots of rain and wind. But nothing severe. I'll have to wait out the storm for outfit pics.. soon! :)

Skinny jeans and Ballet flats

skinny jeans, fashion
skinny jeans, fashion
Urban Outfitters blazer, Topshop skinny jeans, Salvatore Ferragamo flats, Melie Bianco bag

This is what I was wearing the day I cut my hair. I always turn to skinny jeans when I don't know what to wear. I threw on the blazer because it was chilly outside and finished with flats. I'm a huge fan of the skinny jean silhouette. I'm also keen on wearing black, especially with flats. It's comfortable but still sassy, in a way. When I used to work at Barneys New York, my supervisors would always tell me I looked great in black and should wear it as often as possible. That's one compliment I've taken to heart and will never let go... When in doubt? Wear black.

Thank you Rebecca for featuring me on your Blog, here.

New Haircut

Haircut, Fashion blog

For those of you already following me on Twitter, you know I cut my hair again. Yes, I've lopped off several inches from my hair. 5 inches to be exact. It feels super short to me, it always does after a fresh cut, however this is the shortest I've gone in a very long time. I figured a fresh change was due for the Summer.

How do you like it?

Reflections

As a blogger, I am most often asked a lot of different questions. Usually about my hair. What products do I use? How do I care for it? I'm also asked about the kind of makeup I wear on an everyday basis. So, I thought I would dedicate this post to all of my special readers and answer a few questions.

Hair Care: I am loyal to Pantene Pro-V for the shine and bounce infused into my tresses with every single rinse. John Freida tames any Frizz that Summer humidity may bring along with it. I have yet to deal with a tangle that Garnier Fructis conditioner could not restore and revitalize. Hana Shine Shield Thermal Protectant helps lock in moisture and strengthen hair (used best before) applying the stress of heat styling. I finish it all off with my Hana Professional Flat Iron 1" Pink Edition.

*Bonus: For stronger hair and lasting shine: Consume plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and drink at least 5 glasses of water a day.

Everyday Makeup: Cover Girl foundation in Natural Beige, I prefer it in powder compact form. Black or brown eyeliner, swapping between Stila Kajal in Onyx and Soft Kohl in Sable Brown by Rimmel. I favor nude lipsticks and glosses such as the glossimers by Chanel. However, when I want to vamp things up, red is it. Royal Red by Maybelline (worn HERE) is my choice favorite followed by Hot Pink Schiap by Nars running a close second. I want to try Red Lizard by Nars next.

Body: I was able to pamper my skin recently, courtesy of Aveeno and Lucky magazine. At first go, I slathered my legs and toes. Less than an hour later, this 24-Hour Ultra-Hydrating Whipped Souffle by Aveeno made me feel as if I had just left the spa, invigorating scent and all. The best part? It's packed with antioxidant-rich vitamins, soothing Shea and Cocoa butters plus nourishing Oatmeal.

Extras: Essie, American Apparel and OPI decorate my nails as of late. In rotation: Poppy, Van D'Go and Vodka & Caviar.
