last November

These photos are from last year and I totally forgot to post them, until now. Was " cleaning " my computer when I came across them in a folder. I love those fingerless gloves. I got those studded babies just after I saw Silver on 90210 sporting the exact same ones here.

There is some news and changes in store for Fashion Chalet. It's time for me to say goodbye to Miami.... I shall be in a brand new City just before Halloween. Keep checking back for more clues, details, and Fall fashions soon! ;)

Mikimoto Pearls

The Sex and The City series is known for putting Mikimoto pearls on their girls; Carrie Bradshaw (aka Sarah Jessica Parker) in particular. I don't know about you but I am waiting with bated breath for the release of Sex and The City the Movie part deux. I have this weird thing where I have to watch it on DVD though, I don't like the theater environment, too many people and interruptions. So, I hope the movie release date is fast, so that I can get my hands on a copy of that DVD. The sooner the better. Carrie Bradshaw and her best friends have a way of making me smile, cry, laugh, feel elation and become inspired all through their dialogue, city lifestyle and witty comments. I love you and thank you both, Michael Patrick King and Darren Star, for creating these 4 remarkable characters and being able to bring them to life so well! Patricia Field, I want to meet you, talk with you and above all, shop through your closets on set!! This is the show I turn to whenever I am feeling a void....

Sweetheart

After a morning of errand running in my new Spanish Moss Vintage dress, I came home to rain, again. So what's a girl to do? Why, sit back, relax and nosh on a salad the size of her head whilst watching The Beautiful Life, of course. Anyone else tune in? Speak up, come on, I know you did. What did you think?

My thoughts .... I loved it. The music, clothes, Sara Paxton's character. Mischa Barton coming back to television. The beautiful model with the British accent. The "farm boy" model idea. I too thoroughly enjoyed the in depth and in your face approach to life (as a model, actress, celebrity) in New York City, at times vapid, vain and repetitive; yes, yet quite the guilty pleasure to get sucked into all the same. The show has found a fan in me for the long haul!

For all of your Fashionable guilty pleasures and vintage visions, visit Spanish Moss Vintage for your fulfillment. I simply cannot get enough of my 80's print, sweetheart neckline, lace detailed frock.

Illustrious

Today just so happens to be a nasty, rainy day... so, I decided that instead of trying to fight it, I would just give in and in turn stay in. Luckily I rented a couple of movies the other day (Smother, My Best Friend's Girl and Monster in Law) was able to rifle through a few New York Fashion Week images, and read some more of my Who What Wear daily book, which I recently received and have found to be quite fun and informative. I learned how to decipher why I like the designs and designers that I do, and what exactly causes this inclination. After paying close attention to the specific images I found myself saving today, I noticed a pattern. My eyes are quickly drawn to the two extremes; classic and structured cuts using mainly black, gray and white with some kind of metallic detailing, or the other, being color, and lots of it; including floaty fabrics and vintage-inspired prints. I like what I saw from Anna Sui and Vivienne Tam (all color, hippie frocks and wild in idea) as much as simple and classic architectural pieces seen from Doo.Ri and Vena Cava. I also have an inkling that another favorite of mine happens to lie in the super-short or body con fitting. Low slung shoulder bags and hefty platform sandals finish the mystique for me.

Some stand out pieces that really caught my attention and adoration were the sparkled, short, zebra-print infused, fun frocks from Proenza Schouler. I think it's time to proclaim my crush! Vivienne Tam offered up some bright green dresses that made me want to play Peter Pan in. Carlos Miele melted my heart with his use of wispy fabrics and bursts of color straight from the land of rainbows and unicorns, or so it seemed to me; magical. Charlotte Ronson took aerobic wear and girl's night out wear to merge a simple, fun, yet comfortable, and on top of the trend look. Acid wash bodysuits? Yes, twice!! Phillip Lim, Brian Reyes, and Isaac Mizrahi brought classic, feminine back. Phillip Lim, especially, was able to keep a strong hold on basics and classics while still managing to bring in some fun frills and thrills. Cynthia Steffe stole my heartstrings with her large, floppy bows, pastel gear and minimal makeup. Erin Wasson x RVCA was a hit, once again. See it here. Phi brought back flashbacks of Tomb Raider and Hackers, for me. In fact, I'd love to see Angelina Jolie in any one of these ensembles. Naeem Khan evoked Gothic beauty and The Princess Bride into the overall collection and concept. Marc Jacobs never disappoints, especially when it comes to his bountifully colorful Marc by Marc Jacobs line. Love. Jill Stuart, I just want to tell you how much owning this entire look; head to toe (bag included) would mean to me. Adore! Milly was fun, provocative and full on flirty. A definite keeper. DvF aka Diane von Furstenberg stayed true to her roots. To end with a bang, Dennis Basso seemed to bring every sultry siren from the old pictures back to life through his decadent dresses and sumptuous accessories.

Birthday Girl!

The girls surprised me with a pre-Birthday lunch yesterday. We went Greek! There was Spanakopita (Greek Spinach Pie) This is an authentic, really rich pie stuffed with spinach, onions, cheeses and herbs that are all enfolded by crispy, flaky phyllo dough. We also had Grape leaves and Mediterranean salads all around. I'm anxious to find out what other surprises are in store for me tonight!?!!

Jill Stuart. The New Balmain? And how about some more Wang?

(New York Fashion Week continues...)

A little bit Futuristic and a whole lot of fun. Party frocks for everyone! Jill Stuart also kept the little jacket up to date in all its studded, cropped glory; worked in stovepipe pants and a whole lot of shimmer, glimmer and shine into her delicate, yet showy pieces. With it's mesh accents, lace and posh perfect cuts, the collection is fit for a Queen, a Queen Bee that is. Blair Waldorf and the gang just might be spotted in Jill Stuart for the third installment of Gossip girl. A girl can hope. What do you say S & B? It's a collection you either love or hate. I'm veering on love. Especially on the piece I've circled above. I'll be dreaming of that frock, tonight... the whole outfit in it's entirety, actually.....

And a little more Wang for you, because quite frankly, Alexander dear, you amaze me in all that you do! Athletic wear becoming everyday girl wear? Lace-up, zipper infused cleats.. with studs!?!? Thank you for dreaming, it is thoughts and creative ideas like these that inspire us all to push on and try out our own personal dreams, no matter what they may be. The subtle shine in the collection conjures up an almost angelic vibe. Angels in the Outfield anyone? It also doesn't hurt that most of my favorite models were in your line-up: Isabeli Fontana, Anna Selezneva, Regina Feoktistova, Snejana Onopka, Natasha Poly, Lily Donaldson.... Sigh!

New York Fashion Week

Top four contenders. (So far...)

Charlotte Ronson played it safe with clean lines and neutral colors but surprised me with mixing in more black than Spring collections usually have. It's almost Tomboy meets Cruise chic, could it be she borrowed ideas from sister, Samantha? Overall, well done.

Alexander Wang hit this one out of the ballpark, literally. His 2010 collection evokes an old world Baseball (and as someone pointed out, football) feel; equal parts comfort and couture. The messy side braided hairdo is the perfect final addition to the look. The 'do melded regular sidewalk fashion and brought it to the runways!

Hervé Léger kept things simple with the beloved body con fitting dresses. The lovely, swirling blue sky prints made me swoon as did the chunky, studded, clunky, clogs. The only thing missing? Maybe an oversize glossy clutch.

Erin Wasson x RVCA reminds me of Rumi and KnightCat. This collection, in particular, has a lot of street cred. High brow designs mixed in with surfer, skater, casual accents. It's easy to wake up with big 80's hair, throw on an oversize and holey RVCA top, pull on a thigh grazing mini, and jam your feet through some beat up Docs. The whipped cream? Smokey, smokey eyes!

Others worth keeping an eye on: Rag & Bone, Vena Cava, Preen, Ruffian, Vivienne Tam, Boy by Band of Outsiders, Alexander McQueen, Cynthia Steffe, Diane von Furstenberg, Erin Fetherston .... Check back.

Killer Instinct

My favorite numbers are 7 and 9. I was born in September (the 9th month, 17th day). Maybe it's the 9 because this week has been filled with lots of exciting news. One having to do with Lucky magazine and a Blogger Style Feature in Spilled Milk mag. More news to come soon, too. I'm also keyed up about Gossip girl and The Beautiful Life starting next week. Who caught 90210? Hello Season 2!!! Adriana, Silver and Naomi are looking as. gorgeous. as. ever! And more specifically, hellooo Liam. Happy Birthday to me (in exactly one week from today.. 9/17!!!)

I couldn't wait to rock my Christopher Kane -esque Gorilla tee, found by Rumi (Fashion Toast) on eBay, and now, of which I am the proud owner. I finished with my fast-becoming-a-staple skinny BDG jeans (they remind me of Balmain) and studded BCBG heels. = I was going for a Sandy, after the makeover, in Grease, look.. the "glove" is homage to Michael Jackson.

I have always been a big fan of Shoebuy. (In fact, all of my Minnetonka boots came from them!) These heels are reviewed perfectly on the site by clarifying their stylish sleek look; a sandal on a platform, which feature a high, yet comfortable, heel. Large metal rivets accompany the detailed stitching for a vamped up look.

I love my shoes because they remind me of Alexander Wang Spring 2009 Ready-To-Wear

Feeling Vampy in my new Flame tee by the creative Ash Fox line. I paired it with my newest addition to the American Apparel collection and lover in me: The High-Waist Hot Short. I had to include my new Bakers ankle shoe booties (so very Alexander Wang Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear in design) to complete this look.

Tit Tees by Ash Fox was founded in New York in 2007 as a clothing label for ladies and gents, producing limited edition designs, each intricately crafted, but rough around the edges. From original drawings to vintage appliques and hand studded tees, the mission is about staying true to individually handcrafted design versus outsourcing and mass producing. Tit Tees is designed and made in the USA. The name Tit Tees is a punk rock statement of body love with a feminist punch.

One last thing, I want to marry these shoes and have children with them. (Sara Paxton made me say it!)
