Top four contenders. (So far...)
Charlotte Ronson played it safe with clean lines and neutral colors but surprised me with mixing in more black than Spring collections usually have. It's almost Tomboy meets Cruise chic, could it be she borrowed ideas from sister, Samantha? Overall, well done.
Alexander Wang hit this one out of the ballpark, literally. His 2010 collection evokes an old world Baseball (and as someone pointed out, football) feel; equal parts comfort and couture. The messy side braided hairdo is the perfect final addition to the look. The 'do melded regular sidewalk fashion and brought it to the runways!
Hervé Léger kept things simple with the beloved body con fitting dresses. The lovely, swirling blue sky prints made me swoon as did the chunky, studded, clunky, clogs. The only thing missing? Maybe an oversize glossy clutch.
Erin Wasson x RVCA reminds me of Rumi and KnightCat. This collection, in particular, has a lot of street cred. High brow designs mixed in with surfer, skater, casual accents. It's easy to wake up with big 80's hair, throw on an oversize and holey RVCA top, pull on a thigh grazing mini, and jam your feet through some beat up Docs. The whipped cream? Smokey, smokey eyes!
Others worth keeping an eye on: Rag & Bone, Vena Cava, Preen, Ruffian, Vivienne Tam, Boy by Band of Outsiders, Alexander McQueen, Cynthia Steffe, Diane von Furstenberg, Erin Fetherston .... Check back.
