American Vintage

This is my Pre-NYE, at home and casual look for today. I cannot wait to wear what I have in store for tonight though. THE SPECIAL PACKAGE arrived!!- And I'm just bubbling over with giddy excitement. You soon shall see what I have decided to don for tonight. MANY ADVANCE THANKS to those who sent in ideas. Let's just say that the fireworks won't be the only thing shining tonight. HAPPY NEW YEAR'S 20O9 to youuuu! :)

Hoodie: Fruit of the Loom (the hubby's -I stole it -hahah!) Striped tee: Jones New York. Tights: Payless. Oxfords: Newport News.

Super excited about modeflickan.se featuring my photo!!

Translation: This particular outfit was influenced by Tallulah Morton (Australian model/it party girl) with the tights as pants and old-fashioned ankle boots. The plaid touch is very MK and the Eiffel Tower Paris t-shirt is just so me. As I hope to one day make my way there. :)

I dream of Jeannie

I finally have some time to rewind and relax; after a long and exhausting week (and weekend) of Holiday hoopla! I was away for almost a week, 6 days to be exact. And now I must prepare for NYE '09. I still don't know what to wear. 50% chance of rain and 50% chance of a cold front coming through. Decisions. Decisions. Any ideas??? I look forward to reading some. On another note, Sweety, our Christmas puppy, learned some cool tricks. How to "sit" and how to "crawl" she's an excellent student. I hope to have some videos up later on in the blog.

Thank you Demi for this award. You left me all teary eyed with what you had to say!!

Fashion Chalet: She is one of the 'queens' of the blogosphere (haha) getting up to 100 comments on each post, yet she answers and replies to every single one individually. She could just be lazy and say 'oh thanks' but she doesn't, she actually cares and replies. I just find this so kind and amazing, it must be incredibly time-consuming!! And she is the loveliest person ever, inside and out!

PS: Your comments always rock my socks and never fail to impress and astound me. Thank you, my lovely readers!!! --YOU ALL deserve the award!!--

Sweater: Vintage. Belt: Vintage. Leggings: American Apparel. Fringe sandals: Urban Outfitters.

Daft Punk is Playing at My House

Whether in bed; just before falling asleep, or at my desk, working on the computer; I have my iPod or iTunes constantly playing. I thought it fun to give you guys a peek into my current favorite songs and bands. Links and videos below.

By the way those are my Christmas socks. Yes, cheesy... yet comfortable and too adorable to pass up. $1 from the dollar store. HAHA. I love to go there for fun, decorative and budget-friendly finds. I even have a set of "Let it Snow" coffee Christmas mugs from there. The Dollar Tree is the best of all.

... and a Puppy 'neath the Christmas Tree

Everyone, I'd like to introduce you to "Sweety"-she's a Boston Terrier and our new baby. A darling. I strongly encourage those who can, to rescue animals (both cats and dogs) from your local shelters. It's a wise choice and a good deed.

I hope everyone had the loveliest of Christmases today. I anticipate that you not only saw your own wishes come true, but also made others' wishes come true today. On Christmas day, we made the wish of a puppy come true. We rescued her from the Humane Society.

I'd love to hear what everyone received. I am still picking up and organizing it all away myself. xx

Christmas day:
  • The best part was the dinner. Well, actually, the dessert. -Think vanilla cake with whipped cream and Dulce de leche on top.
  • I received some cool films on DVD: Kung Fu Panda, The Dark Knight, and Space Chimps.
  • Weeds The Complete Three Seasons on DVD (now I can finally sit down and watch all 3 in a row) I have never seen it before, so I'm hoping it should be fun. Especially since MK Olsen is supposed to be in the Third Season. :)
  • Clothes (which I am still trying on and having fun organizing away.)
  • $$$ / gift cards
  • chocolate and candy
  • Shoes
  • Makeup
  • Perfume
  • a Tripod!!!

Tee: forever 21. Leggings: Macy's Jrs. Ballet Flats: Report. Sunglasses: Perry Ellis

4 Little Birds ...

Tallulah Morton is as much down-to-earth as she is eccentric (in a good way, of course!) Charismatic from her wild child hair right down to her colorful fingernails. Always casual, and yet, she makes it look so effortlessly chic. It's no wonder the Cobrasnake fawns all over her.

Knightcat, also known as Cat Khan, is a college student by day but a blog maven by night. Her blog, knightcat, is a driving force of inspiring photographs. She never lets us down, every single photo causes accelerated heart palpitations and joy. Who is Cat Khan? I'd love to find out.

Mary Kate Olsen inspires me to be free thinking, to love fashion for its role in being creative; being art. MK thrives in standing out from the crowd; and that's a good thing in my eyes. I would enjoy a day talking fashion, shopping for shoes and sipping lattes with this sage leader.

Ruby Aldridge to me, is "the Urban Outfitters girl" but she is also very much daring as she is beautiful. Ruby is just as gorgeous naturally as she is all made up. Just like her sister Lily, who manages to make wearing thick-framed black glasses a "do" instead of a "don't," Ruby has girls clamoring for her hot "du jour" stylish ideas; all over the continent.

All Hands on Deck: American Apparel and Chuck Taylor

As silly as I know it may sound, I can't help but to feel exhilarated when I spot a celebrity I admire wearing something that I also own. Like this AA raglan top for example, seen on Mary Kate Olsen- quite a few times, or the fact that Mary Kate and Nicole Richie both seem to like Converse sneakers as much as I do (I've been wearing them since the 6th grade!!) And how about the fact that they both chose to pair their all American Chuck Taylor lo top Converse with grey sweaters? Genius.

These photos were taken in the old house, but up until now, I had forgotten all about them. I do however wear my American Apparel raglan top all of the time. I'm debating on whether to order another, to sleep in? They're just that soft.

Top: American Apparel. Dress/Bag: Vintage. Sneakers: Converse by Chuck Taylor.

Clouds in my Coffee.

To my surprise- I found AnnaLynne McCord wearing the exact same floral printed tights this morning, via some candids on the fashion spot. I bought them over 3 months ago. I finally dug them out of my closet yesterday and wore them with this eclectic, yet comfortable, ensemble for the first time.
My Currents:
  • Dark eyes a la Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen) on Gossip girl.
  • Patterned tights. AnnaLynne McCord.

  • Wooden heels. Buckled boots. Docs.

  • Undone hair, in messy, tumbled waves and curls.
  • Sufjan Stevens. (playing now)
  • Lily Aldridge.
  • Natascha. (Australian model)
  • And, yes, that is a surfboard behind me. The hubby took it out yesterday for the "big waves" and forgot to hang it back up in the garage. It's one of "our" long boards and it's also a paddle board.
Cape/Shawl: Vintage (eBay). Dress: Vintage Slip skirt (Grandmother's). Tights: Payless. Wedges: Target.

Of One Million Bending Bones

I had a ball at the Classical Christmas concert. Eggnog, Champagne, truffles and Hot Chocolate were served at intermission. The Nutcracker montage is still my favorite part. One older woman even asked me where I got my dress from. My Grandmother just beamed, silently, next to me. I was the only one in green. Can you believe it? I stood out, amongst the red and gold clad women. But in a good, Christmasy way.

This weekend I got creative. I owe it all to Topshop, Erin Wasson, Knightcat and LeFlassh for inspiring me to make these DIY slasher jeans.

Sweater: Vintage. Striped tee: forever 21. Scarf: Alexander McQueen. Slashed jeans: DIY from American Rag. Ankle booties: Nine West.
  • The Holiday party on Saturday night was Italian food themed (Polenta and mushrooms, Antipasto) spinach and artichoke dip. Homemade pumpkin bread and "oreo balls" for dessert; crushed up oreo cookies (frozen into a ball) andf then covered in white chocolate. So good.
  • The special surprise is for Christmas I was told. Now I really can't wait to find out what it is.
  • I made another video.
  • I love Devendra.

I heard the Sugar Plum fairies dancing in my head

Christmas Cheer is here, the concert that is. I will be attending a Classical Christmas show at the Philharmonic Center for the Arts. My Grandmother surprised me with the tickets yesterday, as an early Holiday present. So we will be attending the performance together this evening. And I had so much fun putting this festive look together for the occasion. My favorite is always the Nutcracker montage.

Dress: Vintage (belong to my Grandmother, handmade, from when she was in her 20's). Coat: International Concepts. Tights: L'eggs. Heels: Vintage. Clutch: Liz Claiborne. Cocktail ring: Costume.

  • I am told there will be a special surprise for me this weekend??
  • I am attending a Holiday party this weekend where there will be lots of fun, food and music among spending time with both family and friends. I always look forward to this one in particular.
  • I have found a new amazing blog. I suggest checking it out here.
  • I made a silly, fun video of my Christmas tree. Hope you like it.

Junebug skipping like a stone ...

The Smashing Pumpkins bring me back to middle school, falling asleep to Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.. I was in a state of memory this morning. The sunlight wasn't breaking through my window. I thought I was waking up early. I rolled out of bed to find out it was almost eleven am. Stormy days cause a stir in my mind; to think and re-balance myself. Last night I stayed up until practically 3-in-the-morning watching Sex and The City the movie (for the first time) it took me long enough. I wanted to watch the entire series first. It was definitely a reward worth waiting for. I won't spoil it for the ones that haven't seen it yet (if there is anyone, I think I'm the last haha!) anyway, I loved it. No, I more than loved it. Carrie Bradshaw is, was, will always be my favorite person. And she wouldn't be who she is without her best girls; Samantha Jones, Charlotte Yorke - Goldenblatt, and Miranda Hobbes. I can only dream to belong to that tight-knit posse; but for now the DVD's and books will just have to suffice. Sigh.......

(photos: google images, satcmovie)

I credit-- SATC/Michael Patrick King, Carrie Bradshaw and Knight Cat for their inspirations!!
