I relish in attending the big production Fashion Shows during Fashion Week as much as I enjoy partaking in the more intimate presentations. With the Christine Alcalay S/S 2012 Presentation, we were treated to a collection influenced by Greece and Egypt. Sumerian, Roman, Chinese and Irish inflections trickled in as well. I appreciate the idea of being able to walk around the models, see the pieces up close and make eye contact with the designer and her muses. Overall, I found the collection quite amazing. I was transported to the Sixties with some of the pieces. See: White cardigan and shorts. And then to the Seventies with the funky prints and the dazzling maxi skirts and dresses. A little bit Mad Men meets Charlie's Angels, and I like that!
The thing that excites me the most about Fashion Week, is the packed-to-the-gills schedule. I get a kick out of running back and forth between different shows, appointments, meetings and scheduled interviews. It's what I miss the most once I get back home. I have a lot of energy and despise sitting around. I prefer a meaty schedule day in and day out. I think the life of a Fashion Editor is parfait!
