Subconscious, but also conscious, Inspiration.
Since I have lately taken to sharing my outfits with you more frequently, I only found it fitting to also share some of the inspiration behind my thinking when it comes to picking these certain ensembles. Welcome to my world, behind the scenes, so to speak.
• The coffee table book, Influence, penned by Mark Kate and Ashley Olsen, is a widespread collection of interviews featuring iconic legends in the Fashion realm. These are some noteworthy Q and A sessions with the likes of Mary Kate and Ashley's own personal private muses.
• A teeny, tiny, stuffed, black French poodle. A past Holiday present I have yet been able to part with. She seems so very French to me and her given name is Orange Marmalade.
• The beautiful red sequined hair clip in the shape of a bow, so fitting for the little part of Dorothy in us all. "There is no place like home, there is no place like home, there is no place like.."
• Sex and The City, the movie. Yes, I felt the series was better on television, only because it delved deeper into the individual characters' lives, but finally getting to see Big and Carrie and their marvelous romance on the big screen? Kind of a blockbuster moment too. Not to mention the shoes, shoes, shoes and more shoes. Was I the only one enamored by Carrie Bradshaw's wardrobe yet again!? I think not!
• Heart shaped sunglasses in a light flirty pink? Check. Because the girly girl in me said so. Thank you, Suzanne. ;)
• Nylon magazine. It's as if all of my favorite editorial and photo blogs got married and had this beautiful little baby! Doesn't hurt that many of my favorites have graced their hallowed halls and donned their best to be captured for the cover; Nicole Richie, Sienna Miller, Leighton Meester, 90210's entire female cast, Ashley and Mary Kate Olsen, and Zooey Deschanel, just to name a few.
• The Tudors. Season 1; because that's all I've seen so far (one episode left to go before I can move onto Season 2) and because of Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Henry Cavill.. that's all!
• A Year in Fashion by Pascal Morche, which I had to purchase when I heard my good friend Lissa was getting it. Hello, a book so thick you can't carry it with only one arm, and totally loaded with fashion? And Audrey Hepburn is on the cover? YES, YES, YES!!!!
• My trusty Composition notebook, filled with doodles, recipes, notes, ideas, quotes, song lyrics, wish lists and anything else worth jotting down. I carry "her" (yes, her) with me everywhere. I call her Jules.
• The most beautiful color in the world to me, is purple. So it is only natural to state how much I adore my decadent lilac ring from Ice.com.
• The tiny periwinkle twinkle between Influence and my Composition notebook belongs to a ring my Mother surprised me with some odd three years ago. It was exactly the bauble I needed to finish off my look for my Cousin's wedding. I treasure it for the many memories that come with it, every time I wear it.
• Framed Audrey Hepburn photograph. Taken from an Audrey Hepburn picture fan book, I had to preserve her in frame. This is my favorite still from Breakfast at Tiffanys. The hairstyle, Givenchy dress, pearls, sunglasses, croissant, gloves, Tiffanys!
